Additional Hours or guests

Additional Hours: $750.00 (plus tax) per additional hour.

  • 10:00 pm is the latest any event may end (including cleanup)

Additional Guests: $500 (plus tax) per additional block of 25 guests.

What is included in our Wedding Packages?

We only ever host one event a day, so you will get full use of and access to the following areas during your event.

  • Sunken English Garden (Outdoor Ceremony, 200 guest max)

  • Lakeside Lawn (Outdoor Ceremony/Reception, 200 guest max)

  • Front Castle Lawn (Outdoor Ceremony/Reception, 200 guest max)

  • Loggia (Large covered porch ideal for buffet location or cocktail hour)

  • Ballroom (Indoor Reception, 125 guest max)

  • Great Hall (Indoor Ceremony 125 guest max/dance floor)

The following equipment and services are also included:

  • 2 Changing Rooms for Wedding Party

    • Chester’s Suite with full bathroom

    • Library

  • 3 Restrooms for guests in the Great Hall

  • Gate & parking attendant and use of our on-site parking area

    • Parking for up to 100 guests inside the gate

    • Additional parking for up to 50 guests outside the gate

    • Carpools and shuttle services need to be arranged for guest counts over 150

  • 12 ft drop-down projection screen in the Ballroom (we do not have a projector)

  • A walkthrough meeting within the month of your event date to coordinate with vendors, answer questions, and decide on a Plan A and Plan B event layout.

SCHEDULING

Since Thornewood Castle is a private home in a residential community, no events can go past 10:00 PM under any circumstances. All visits to the Castle are by appointment only. 

CATERING

We allow your choice of caterer, subject to them meeting all Pierce County health code requirements. We also do NOT charge the frequent 10-20% of their catering contract with you. This should help reduce your food cost. Your caterer is required to bring anything needed for food prep, storage, presentation and service (including buffet tables and linens). We can provide you with a list of preferred vendors to help in your selection process. We do not provide dishes, utensils, napkins or glassware.

ALCOHOL

We allow you to bring in your own alcohol without any corkage fees from us. However, you must purchase a banquet permit through the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board. We do not permit hard liquor. All alcohol must be served by a WA State licensed alcohol server (i.e. no self-service or wine/champagne bottles on tables). Often your caterer can provide a bartender. You may also have your alcohol catered by any business licensed by WA State to serve in such a manner. All WA State alcohol serving laws must be followed.

MUSIC & DANCING

You may use our professional sound system and microphone which is already set up, or hire a DJ who can bring their own equipment. Because we are located in a residential neighborhood, amplified sound is only allowed inside the Castle. You may have acoustic musicians outside.

HONEYMOONS AND OVERNIGHT LODGING

Consider our convenient overnight accommodations on your wedding night for your out-of-town guests and/or the two new extended families, or for the honeymoon couple.

If you book Thornewood Castle for your wedding, you and your quests can reserve our overnight suites for a very sizable discount. Lots of new in-law families have commented on how great it was to all spend some informal time and meals together in such a spectacular setting. Ask for our special overnight rates for wedding parties and their guests.
